5-Card Omaha (PLO5)

Five hole cards — more combos, monster equities and huge action.

How to play — step by step

  1. Same structure as PLO: blinds, then betting.
  2. Each player is dealt 5 hole cards.
  3. You still use exactly 2 hole cards + 3 board cards at showdown.
  4. Pot-limit betting applies on every street.

Stakes & formats

  • Stakes: $0.10/$0.25 — $10/$25
  • Formats: 6-max, 5-max

Example hand

5-max, $0.50/$1 PLO5

  • Preflop: Hero calls with 9♠8♠7♥6♦5♦ from BTN. SB completes, BB checks. Pot: $3.
  • Flop (T♣ 7♣ 4♠): Middle set-less: pair + open-ender + backdoor. BB pots $3, SB folds, Hero calls. Pot: $9.
  • Turn (T♣ 7♣ 4♠ 6♥): Hero makes bottom straight + pair. BB pots, Hero raises pot, BB calls.
  • River (T♣ 7♣ 4♠ 6♥ 5♠): Hero improves to a bigger straight — 8-high. Value bet gets called.

Result: Hero wins a large multi-street pot with 8-high straight.

Quick strategy

  • Equities run closer than PLO — set-mining is much weaker.
  • Suits and connectivity matter more than pairs.
  • Be willing to fold second nuts on paired or four-flush boards.
